Choose sight words your learners are practicing

The starter list contains common words such as the, and, to and in. Replace it with the words your learners have already met in class or reading practice. This is an editable example, not a leveled reading program or an official curriculum list.

Use one word per line. Remove words that are too similar for the current lesson, and check spellings before generating. A smaller set keeps the round focused; a larger pool gives players different subsets of words.

Make printable sight word bingo cards

Choose 3×3 for a short round: it needs nine words, or eight with a free center. A 4×4 card needs 16 words; 5×5 needs 25, or 24 with a free center. The free center is available on odd-sized grids. Set a quantity from 1 to 100 and generate the cards.

Download the PDF on Letter or A4 paper with one, two or four cards per page. One card per page gives beginning readers larger print. Include the caller sheet so your spoken word list matches the cards.

Run a sight word reading game

Say one word from the caller sheet without pointing to it. Learners find and mark the written word on their cards. Agree whether a row, diagonal or whole card wins before the round. Check a claimed line against the words you have called.

After marking, ask learners to read the word back or use it in a short sentence. Repeat a word when the group needs more time. For random calls without repeats, paste the list into the bingo caller with words.

Adapt the next lesson

Save the PDF for reuse, or replace several familiar words with the next lesson’s words and generate a new batch. More batches are free; layouts are checked for duplicates within each batch.

For learners who need letter practice, try alphabet bingo. For meaning and definitions, use the vocabulary bingo generator. The classroom bingo page brings the lesson formats together.
