Build a vocabulary list for one topic

Replace the sample words with terms from the text, subject or language unit you are teaching. Put one word or short phrase on each line. Use the spelling and form learners will see in the lesson, and keep entries short enough to read in a square.

The starter list uses everyday topics such as books, travel and cooking. It is a demonstration list, so adapt it to your learners rather than treating it as a prescribed vocabulary level.

Call definitions instead of the answers

Cards show the words you enter. To practice meaning, prepare a definition, synonym, translation or example sentence for each word and keep the answer beside the clue in your own notes. Read the clue; players find and mark the matching word.

Make every clue point to one intended answer. If two entries could fit, change the wording before the round. The generator prints the entry list on the caller sheet; it does not create definitions or translate words for you.

Print vocabulary cards for your class

Choose 3×3 for eight words and a free center or nine without one; 4×4 needs 16. A 5×5 card needs 24 words with a free center or 25 without one. Add more terms if you want different subsets across cards.

Set a quantity from 1 to 100, generate the batch and download the PDF. Choose Letter or A4 and one, two or four cards per page. Include the caller sheet, then check a sample print before making copies.

Check understanding after a match

Agree the winning pattern first. When a player claims bingo, ask them to explain the marked words and check the answers against your clue notes. For a simpler recognition round, paste the words into the free bingo caller and call the terms directly.

Use sight word bingo when the aim is recognizing written words. For other lesson formats, return to the bingo card generator for teachers.
